ROUTINE DENTAL CHECK-UPS

ROUTINE DENTAL CHECK-UPS

6 Reasons why you need routine dental check-ups:

Early detection of oral cancer:

Oral cancer/ carcinoma is a serious disease that manifests in several ways. When detected early its quick progression can be stopped or slowed down with the latest treatment modalities. Regular check-ups once in six months aids in detection and thereby prevention of oral carcinoma. As always said, “Prevention is better than Cure.”

Tooth Decay/ Cavities:

Cavities or carious or otherwise commonly called tooth decay can be detected with regular dental check-ups. Tooth decay in early stages once identified canrestored or filled with restorative cements with minimal tooth damage. When detected late, this tooth decay progressively invades the pupal cavity (which contains nerves and blood vessels) leading to severe pain, inflammation, and damage to the tooth.

Gum Diseases due to Plaque, Calculus and Tartar:

Even with regular brushing twice a day plaque and tartar form in and around the teeth. The initial soft white plaque filled with pathogenic bacteria later hardens into calculus and tartar which subsequently invades and replaces the existing bone. This causes inflammation of the gums and leaves the tooth without the support of natural bone structures, and eventually leads tomobility of the existing natural teeth. Regular professional oral hygiene procedure once every six months prevents such gum diseases.

Prevent Bad Breath:

Oral prophylaxis or professional oral hygiene procedure will clear all the plaque and stains and will therefore prevent bad breath.

Diagnose oral diseases:

Gum disease and other oral diseases such as candidiasis, smoker’s palate, white lesions and red lesions of the oral cavity can be identified only with regular Dental Check-ups.

Prevent unnecessary dental expenses:

Finally regular dental check-ups not only identify oral diseases at an early stage and gross destruction of teeth but also prevents more expensive dental treatment modalities. As rightly said, “Dentistry is not expensive neglect is”
