A fixed partial denture is called the bridge since the artificial teeth are supported by the two natural teeth on either side.

Do I require root canal procedure when placing a fixed partial denture?

Most fixed partial denture restorations do not require root canal procedure for the existing natural teeth that is being used for supporting the fixed partial denture. But, some patients (rarely) may develop sensitivity, in which case an endodontist will intervene and perform a root canal procedure. This will resolve the sensitivity allowing a comfortable and smooth transition.
